StarCraft II Global Esports

StarCraft II's current top competition is fragmented. GSL remains active in Korea, while the old WCS global system is no longer the current circuit.

Correction

WCS is a legacy name. Blizzard replaced the old WCS structure in 2020, and the later ESL Pro Tour arrangement also changed; 'GSL + WCS' is not an accurate name for the 2026 system.

2026 official status

What is confirmed now

GSL held Seasons 1 and 2 in 2026 and announced GSTL for the second half of the year. The official post says preparations for future regular GSL seasons remain open.

Why this event matters

Its place in the global calendar

The correct current view is an active GSL-led Korean scene and other organizer events, not a restored GSL-plus-WCS world championship ladder.
