What happened

Bandai Namco published patch 2.71 on August 28 alongside Sage Mode Naruto's Special Master-Ninjutsu Training Vol. 49.

The update changes both the playable roster and the tools available for controlled practice testing.

The practical change: Test the free master version and the new practice controls before deciding whether the separate training pack fits your build.

What is confirmed

  • Sage Mode Naruto is added as a new master character and is playable by all users.
  • Practice battle rules and allied or enemy team composition can now be configured.
  • A Ninjutsu control guide icon can be toggled in the Ninjutsu library.
  • The patch also renames maps and adjusts multiple Ninjutsu, Secret Techniques, weapons and accessories.

What this means for players

The free master trial and configurable practice teams make it easier to test matchups before buying the training pack.

The balance section is extensive, so existing builds should be rechecked instead of assuming their previous timing and effects are unchanged.

What is still unconfirmed

The patch notes do not establish a universal best build or guarantee that future balance updates will preserve the current values.

What to do next

  1. 01
Try Sage Mode Naruto as a master before buying the training pack.
  2. 02
Use practice team controls to reproduce the matchup you actually play.
  3. 03
Recheck every affected Ninjutsu and item in the official notes before keeping an older build unchanged.
