Mario Kart World’s 1.8.0 Coverage Is Splitting Practice Across Courses, Rallies and Time Trials

Four independent channels published route coverage, course footage or a reaction within one day of Version 1.8.0. The useful first decision is not whether every addition is good; it is whether you want to learn selectable SNES courses, unlock a new Knockout Tour route or measure a lap in Time Trials.

The repeated coverage supports a mode-selection problem. It does not establish a best course, a settled competitive ranking or a representative verdict on the update.

Capture boundary

YouTube public-search snapshot captured Sep 11, 2026 at 09:28 Beijing time. Four accessible, non-live Version 1.8.0 videos from four independent channels were displayed as one day old.

The first-day rush is already separating into different jobs

Shortcat concentrated on the new tracks and Knockout Tour routes, aWiibo catalogued the added courses, TWD98 published a reaction to the track update, and NintenU presented the new September content. The visible counts ranged from 1,089 to 326,894 at capture, but the repeated task—not the largest count—is the evidence that players are deciding where to start.

Those formats are not interchangeable. A course catalogue can confirm what appears on screen, a route video can expose unfamiliar transitions, and an opinion video can frame friction. None of them alone proves which addition will matter most after players have learned it.

Choose the mode before choosing the guide

Nintendo confirms that Version 1.8.0 adds ten selectable Super Mario Kart courses to VS Race, Time Trials, Online Play and Wireless Play, plus Propeller Rally and Turnip Rally for Knockout Tour. The new rallies become selectable after clearing at least one Knockout Tour rally.

That creates three clean starting paths. Use VS Race or Online Play to learn the ten selectable courses, use Knockout Tour to learn long-route transitions and checkpoint pressure, or use Time Trials when the job is repeatable lap comparison. Mixing all three into one verdict hides the reason a route succeeds or fails.

  • Install Version 1.8.0 and confirm every player in an online group is on the same version.
  • Pick one mode and one course or rally before changing kart, character and route together.
  • In Time Trials, compare repeatable laps; do not use one early record as a permanent tier list.

Nintendo confirms the contents, not a competitive verdict

Nintendo’s update notice confirms the ten courses, two rallies, lap-time display, ghost time-difference colors, spectator controls and Photo Mode filter. It also notes that item panels replace item boxes on the added classic courses, except on the race leading to Mario Circuit.

The official material does not rank the courses, publish a final route meta or say that early reactions represent the player base. Balance and competitive conclusions still need controlled testing in the current build.

Editorial read: start with the mode that produces the evidence you need—route familiarity, checkpoint survival or repeatable lap time—then evaluate one claim at a time.
