Direct answer

Start on the default rules, identify the single mechanic stopping progress, and change that setting first. Control Resonant lets you adjust Assist Mode at any time, in either direction, without locking trophies or achievements.

Evidence boundary: Assist Mode settings are source-checked, but future modes, third-party challenge rules and post-launch tuning may treat them differently.

Do this first

  1. 01
Play the default combat rhythm long enough to identify the actual problem.
  2. 02
For crowd pressure, lower Enemy Aggression before changing damage.
  3. 03
For reaction timing, widen Perfect Dodge Window or reduce Enemy Projectile Speed.
  4. 04
For resource pressure, raise Power Recovery Speed; for melee positioning, increase Enhanced Melee Magnetizing.
  5. 05
Use Immortality, One-Hit Kills or One-Hit Falters only when they solve the experience you want.

Choose the narrowest useful adjustment

Enemy Aggression changes pressure from multiple directions. Perfect Dodge Window and Enemy Projectile Speed address reaction timing. Incoming Damage, Outgoing Damage and Outgoing Falter separately tune punishment, damage and posture breaking.

Power Recovery Speed affects the availability of Dylan's supernatural abilities, while Enhanced Melee Magnetizing makes close-range positioning more forgiving.

Presets and fail-safe options

Assist Mode offers presets, but each setting can be fine-tuned afterward. Immortality, One-Hit Kills and One-Hit Falters are available for players who want to remove a specific combat wall and continue exploring or following the story.

The menu is available during play, so there is no need to decide before learning the mechanics.

Harder settings and achievement rules

Unlike the first Control, the sliders can also increase difficulty: higher aggression and incoming damage or a smaller perfect-dodge window can create a stricter challenge.

Remedy says trophies and achievements are not gated behind Assist Mode. That statement does not confirm how third-party challenge rules or future modes will treat these settings.
