Pragmata Beginner Hacking and Combat Guide

Learn the verified two-character combat loop: move and shoot as Hugh while Diana hacks armor, exposes weak points and opens routes through the station.

Direct answer

Treat every encounter as one combined loop: keep Hugh moving, begin Diana's hack, build a valid path through the grid, then fire into the exposed weak point. Hugh handles movement, jumping, thrusters and firearms; Diana hacks at the same time. Do not dump ammunition into closed armor when a hack is available.

Evidence boundary: The role split and armor-opening loop are described by Capcom and PlayStation. Exact best weapons, damage breakpoints and universal puzzle routes are not stated by the official pages.

Do this first

  1. 01
Keep Hugh moving while opening Diana's hacking grid.
  2. 02
Connect the starting point to the target node instead of tracing random squares.
  3. 03
Use useful route panels when they fit, but prioritize completing the path under pressure.
  4. 04
Fire after the hack opens enemy armor and reveals the weak point.
  5. 05
Reset position with jumps or suit thrusters before starting the next simultaneous action.

Control two roles at the same time

Capcom defines Pragmata around simultaneous control. Hugh moves, shoots and jumps while Diana hacks. The system is not a turn-based handoff between two separately controlled characters.

For a first run, the practical objective is rhythm: reposition, read the grid, complete the hack, exploit the opening, then move again before the enemy recovers.

  • Hugh: movement, firearms, jumping and suit thrusters
  • Diana: enemy and facility hacking
  • Shared goal: expose a weak point before committing damage

Read the hacking grid before chasing bonuses

The on-screen grid remains active while the fight continues. Build a route toward the target node while keeping enough attention on Hugh's spacing and incoming attacks.

A clean valid path is better than overextending for every optional panel. Once the base action is reliable, route through panels that improve the immediate hack without trapping the cursor.

Shoot the opening, not the shell

PlayStation's official description says Diana opens enemy armor and reveals weak spots. That makes the hack the setup and Hugh's gunfire the conversion step.

If damage feels poor, verify that the armor is actually open before changing weapons or assuming the target is over-levelled. The official pages do not publish universal damage thresholds.

Use the demo as a controls test

The free PRAGMATA Sketchbook demo is available on the reviewed storefronts and exists specifically to sample the dual-action combat and lunar-station traversal.

Capcom warns that some demo features differ from the full game. Use it to test the core input load and device comfort, not to infer every final-game unlock or balance value.
