Direct answer

Obtain the Spirit Calling Bell from Renna or the Twin Maiden Husks, equip one Spirit Ash, and look for the monument icon at a supported area or boss arena. You can summon only one spirit type at a time, the summon ends when its HP reaches zero, the boss dies, it moves too far away, or the same ash is used again, and Spirit Ashes are unavailable during multiplayer.

Version boundary: checked September 4, 2026. Exact values and unsupported platform claims remain unconfirmed.

  4. 04
End multiplayer before trying to call a Spirit Ash.
  5. 05

Unlock the bell before diagnosing the ash

Bandai Namco's current official overview says the Spirit Calling Bell comes from Renna the Witch or the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold. Finding an ash alone does not supply the summoning tool.

If the bell is missing, check those official acquisition paths before farming FP, upgrading the ash or reinstalling the game.

Read the monument icon

Spirit Ashes work near rebirth monuments. The game shows a monument icon on the left side of the screen when the location allows a summon, including many points of interest and boss arenas.

No icon means the current position is outside the supported zone. Move into the encounter area instead of repeatedly selecting the ash in an ordinary field location.

Know the one-spirit and multiplayer limits

Only one type of spirit can be active at a time. The summoned spirit leaves when its HP reaches zero, when the boss is defeated, when it travels too far from the monument, or when the same ash is used again.

Spirit Ashes cannot be summoned during multiplayer. If a co-op or competitive session is active, end that session before treating the ash as broken.

Choose a role and fix a failed summon

Official material describes spirits as defenders, spell users, distractions or backup. Choose the role the encounter lacks rather than assuming one ash is universally best.

If the ash remains greyed out, check the monument icon, multiplayer state, active summon, and resource cost in that order. If the spirit appears but dies immediately, change the timing or role and consider upgrading it rather than repeating the identical opening.
