Beginner Guide

The first hunt is not a test of encyclopedic knowledge. Learn one repeatable loop, prepare on purpose and let each monster teach you the next layer.

The loop that powers the whole game

01PrepareEat, restock and read the target.
02TrackLet the Seikret close empty distance.
03OpenCreate wounds and learn safe windows.
04ConvertBreak, collect and forge the next answer.

Gear is your progression. There is no traditional experience-point build to rescue a bad plan; knowledge, execution and equipment improve together.

Do these before every unfamiliar hunt

  1. 01
    Eat at camp

Start with the health and stamina buffer. Refine the meal only when a monster gives you a reason.

  2. 02
    Restock the basics

Carry healing, status recovery for the target and the tools your plan actually uses.

  3. 03
    Read Hunter’s Notes

Check behavior, likely parts and reward conditions before searching for an external shortcut.

  4. 04
    Upgrade, then optimize

Basic defense and a current weapon upgrade usually matter more than a perfect skill spreadsheet.

Fight clearly

Use Focus Mode as an aiming tool

Focus Mode helps align attacks, highlights wounds and gives access to Focus Strikes. It is not an automatic win button: distance and timing still determine whether the strike lands safely.

Make wounds part of the plan

Sustained attacks can open wounds. Striking them creates a burst of damage and often a useful opening, but chasing every glowing point through a dangerous move is still a bad trade.

When overwhelmed: mount the Seikret, create space, heal and reset your camera. A clean reset is better than using another item while trapped under the monster.

Turn one clear into the next

At the smithy, compare the next weapon upgrade and the armor skills that support how you actually play. Craft only what solves a current problem; early materials are learning currency.
