The four-step combat loop
Lies of P punishes panic and overlong commitments. A safe single answer is information you can reuse; a reckless combination often hides which enemy move actually caught you.
Use more than one defensive answer
Distance, guarding and precise defensive timing solve different situations. If one answer repeatedly fails, change the answer rather than repeating it faster. Keep enough room to see the enemy's whole motion and enough stamina to act after contact.
- Step away when the sequence travels farther than expected.
- Guard when you need a stable read on an unfamiliar string.
- Use precise timing only after you recognise the cue.
- Stop attacking while you still have time to defend the reply.
Test a moveset, not just a number
The official weapon system allows blades and handles to be mixed. A combination is useful when its reach, speed and attack pattern fit the openings you can actually create. Test the basic attacks and charged option before spending scarce upgrade resources.
Progress without wasting resources
- 01Upgrade the tool you can use
A familiar, current weapon is more valuable than an exciting combination whose timing you cannot control.
- 02Change one variable
When testing a new blade, handle or Legion Arm, keep the rest of the setup stable so the result is readable.
- 03Spend for a current problem
Choose reach, recovery, defense or utility because an encounter exposed that need.
Turn failure into one clear change
| What failed | Next attempt |
|---|---|
| You were hit while healing | Create distance after a completed enemy sequence; do not heal inside the sequence. |
| Your attack kept missing | Test reach and tracking, then use a shorter punish. |
| You ran out of stamina | End the attack earlier and reserve enough stamina for the exit. |
| You cannot read the boss | Make one attempt about observation and survival, not damage. |
