Minecraft Dungeons II Co-op Guide

Set expectations for solo play, four-player co-op, local couch play, online cross-play, mixed parties, matchmaking and party codes.

Four Minecraft Dungeons II heroes fighting together in co-op
Official Minecraft Dungeons II gameplay material. Final values and routes remain launch-build questions.

Direct answer

Minecraft Dungeons II supports solo play and parties of up to four. Mojang confirms local couch co-op, online cross-play, mixed local-and-online groups, matchmaking and party codes; platform-specific account or subscription details still need launch documentation.

Pre-release boundary: this page uses Mojang's published systems article and does not infer final maps, numbers, drops or best builds.

Quick preparation

  1. 01
Choose solo, local couch, online or a mixed local-and-online party.
  2. 02
Use a party code when inviting known players across supported platforms.
  3. 03
Use matchmaking only when you want an open group rather than a private party.
  4. 04
Confirm platform account and subscription requirements at launch before buying for a group.

Supported party shapes

The game can be played alone or with up to three other players. Local couch play and online cross-play are both confirmed, and Mojang explicitly says local and online players can be mixed in one party.

That is stronger evidence than assuming the first game's networking rules carried over unchanged.

Party codes and matchmaking

Party codes are the direct route for a known group. Matchmaking is the route for filling a party with other players. Decide which one you need before troubleshooting invitations or privacy settings.

The official article does not yet provide the complete launch support matrix for accounts, subscriptions, voice chat or save ownership, so those details remain open.

Build a useful four-player group

The current gear system creates room for complementary roles, but Mojang has not published a mandatory class composition. Start by covering control, survival, ranged pressure and close damage, then adjust after the released difficulty and item effects can be measured.

Do not present a pre-release tier list as a solved meta. Random item effects and a larger inventory make that especially unreliable.

What remains unconfirmed

Exact platform account requirements, subscription requirements, disconnect behavior, host migration and save progression rules are not specified in the reviewed article. Check the launch FAQ and in-game network screen before diagnosing those systems.
