What happened

Capcom published a new Ascendance gameplay and story breakdown during the September 3 State of Play.

The post replaces several broad reveal-era unknowns with named monsters, equipment and access requirements.

The practical change: Finish the confirmed story gate and use the free Prologue Demo to test all 14 weapons; wait for Capcom before planning final Master Rank builds.

What is confirmed

  • The story opens with Lao-Shan Lung appearing in the Forbidden Lands and later moves to the Skybound Eyrie.
  • Araketa is a pack-flying Bird Wyvern and Gundoraja is an Elder Dragon associated with storm clouds.
  • The Boost Bracer temporarily enhances the characteristics of all 14 weapon types through Boost Action.
  • The base game, Hunter Rank 40 and completion of Awaking From a Dream are required to enter the expansion story.

What this means for players

Players now have a concrete preparation target instead of an invented Hunter Rank guess.

Boost Action is a confirmed system, but weapon-specific timings and final balance remain future evidence.

What is still unconfirmed

Capcom has not announced the exact 2027 date, price, complete monster roster or final weapon values.

What to do next

  1. 01
Complete Awaking From a Dream and reach Hunter Rank 40.
  2. 02
Use the Prologue Demo if you still need to choose among the 14 weapon types.
  3. 03
Treat build and monster-counter claims as provisional until Capcom publishes playable evidence.
