What happened

Xbox Wire published a hands-off account of roughly 45 minutes from the early portion of Songs of the Past on August 29.

The demonstration follows Geralt into Letten while he investigates Dandelion's family history and the Garden of Thorns.

The practical change: Treat this as a preview of confirmed systems and locations, not a final build or a complete expansion guide.

What is confirmed

  • Letten is a new open region inspired by English and Polish countryside.
  • Thornblooms are stationary attacking plants and Swarmion use shields made from hornets.
  • The hooked chain is a ranged tool that can pull enemies close.
  • Songs of the Past is planned for 2027, while the remaster is scheduled for September 29, 2026.

What this means for players

The chain adds a new way to control distance before switching to melee.

The preview supports a location and enemy watchlist, but not damage values or a complete quest route.

What is still unconfirmed

The final expansion date, price, complete quest list, system requirements and balance values remain unannounced.

What to do next

  1. 01
Wishlist the expansion through an official store if you want release updates.
  2. 02
Do not build a final chain loadout from preview footage.
  3. 03
Recheck the September remaster notes before assuming existing mods or saves behave unchanged.
