Ascendance confirmed facts
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is a massive paid expansion scheduled for 2027. It continues the base game story and adds new quest ranks, locales, monsters and expanded weapon actions through new gameplay features.
What you need before starting Ascendance
The official expansion announcement requires the Monster Hunter Wilds base game and completion of the 7-star assignment Awaking From a Dream. That is the only published story gate at this review.
| Requirement | Confirmed? | What to do now |
|---|---|---|
| Monster Hunter Wilds base game | Yes | Keep the base game and save on the platform where you intend to play the expansion. |
| Clear 7★ Awaking From a Dream | Yes | Finish the named assignment rather than using Hunter Rank alone as the gate. |
| HR100 | Not announced as an Ascendance gate | Useful for current endgame preparation, but do not present it as the expansion requirement. |
| Gogmazios clear | Not announced as an Ascendance gate | Clear it for current gear and experience, not because Capcom has made it mandatory. |
What the expansion adds
- A continuation of the Wilds story: this is an expansion of the existing game, not a separate sequel.
- New quest ranks: official store material identifies Master Rank as the new progression tier.
- New locales: the reveal establishes new elevated hunting spaces and ruins, but the complete locale list is not published.
- Additional monsters: Capcom confirms more monsters, while the full roster and variants remain incomplete.
- Expanded weapon actions: new gameplay features extend weapon actions; complete move lists and balance values are still pending.
These categories are safe to publish because they appear in Capcom's product announcement. Trailer interpretation is kept separate from confirmed mechanics: something visible for a few seconds is not automatically a named system, a final move or a launch feature.

How to prepare without wasting materials
- 01Clear the confirmed assignment gate
Finish Awaking From a Dream and keep a stable end-of-story save.
- 02Learn one reliable build
Use the current endgame to understand your weapon's defense, wound conversion and resource loop. Do not farm speculative “Ascendance meta” gear.
- 03Finish current permanent hunts
Gogmazios and Arch-tempered Arkveld are useful practice and reward sources, even though neither is an announced expansion gate.
- 04Wait for named systems before stockpiling
New ranks and weapon actions are confirmed; their exact materials, upgrade trees and balance values are not.
Ascendance FAQ
Is Ascendance like Iceborne or Sunbreak?
Capcom calls it a massive paid expansion and confirms new quest ranks, locales, monsters and weapon actions. That establishes a similar product scale, but this page will not copy features from earlier expansions unless Capcom confirms them for Ascendance.
Is Master Rank confirmed?
Yes. The official store announcement names Master Rank quests. Capcom's corporate release describes the same scope more generally as new quest ranks.
Can I buy Ascendance without Monster Hunter Wilds?
No. The base game is required, and the official announcement also requires completion of the 7-star assignment Awaking From a Dream.
When will this page update?
When Capcom publishes a dated release, product price, named mechanic, confirmed monster or explicit platform change. Rumors and trailer-only guesses remain outside the confirmed table.
