Crucible: what to prepare and what to leave pending

Focus describes Crucible as an end-game challenge for level-25 classes. Players speak to the Chapter Chaplain in the Battle Barge, select personal Penance debuffs and earn class-specific Crucible XP toward that class's Lamenters armour set.

The September source confirms six Penance tiers and allows multiple Penances. Tier 1 requires at least two selections and Tier 3 requires at least six; Focus does not publish the complete thresholds for every tier or a final XP table. Prepare one preferred class at level 25, but wait for the live menu before choosing a farming route.
