Reconcile the region totals before searching
The maintained location table totals 6 general walnuts, 11 in East, 52 in West, 49 in North and 12 in South. Those five numbers sum to 130 and give you a fast way to identify the region that is still incomplete.
Grouped random sources need their full cap. Finding one walnut while fishing, farming, breaking Mussel Nodes or clearing the Volcano does not complete that checklist line.
Spend walnuts to unlock more walnuts
Open Island North for 1 walnut, then save 10 to reach Island West. These two gates expose the largest pools of fixed, puzzle and random walnuts.
Parrot projects consume walnuts but do not reduce the number found in the save. All functional projects cost 116 in total; the remaining 14 can be exchanged after the full set is collected.
- North: Volcano, Field Office and 49 regional walnuts.
- West: farm, Gourmand Frog, Birdie, Tiger Slime Grove and 52 regional walnuts.
- South expansion: resort access enables the mermaid, tide-pool, starfish and Pirate Cove walnuts.
Check the seven walnuts that parrots do not hint
Leo's parrot provides hints for 123 of the 130 walnuts. It does not identify the bush on the southern edge of the Gem Birds shrine area, the 3-walnut Banana altar reward or the three separate Pirate Cove darts wins.
If the hint repeats a broad activity, continue until that activity's cap is complete. A single darts win or a single farm-harvest walnut is not the end of that source.
Recover a count stuck at 129 or 130
First compare the five region totals and the unhinted seven. Then check Journal Scrap digs only after the relevant scrap has been read, because digging early produces nothing.
If the game state is known to have lost synchronization, the maintained wiki documents the chat command /recountnuts. It recalculates the count and can restore certain missing walnuts; use it as recovery after the checklist, not as a substitute for the route.
Qi's Walnut Room uses a separate threshold check
The door displays progress toward 100 walnuts found. The first walnut obtained is not counted by that particular check, so the maintained record notes that 101 total walnuts must actually be collected before entry becomes available.
This threshold is independent of current spendable walnuts. You can buy parrot projects without losing found-count progress toward the room.
