Stardew Valley Fish Guide: Every Location, Season, Time & Weather

Check 71 rod, Night Market, legendary, quest-variant and Crab Pot reference rows by location, season, time, weather and catch difficulty.

Direct answer: The table contains 71 reference rows: 48 standard rod fish, 3 Night Market submarine catches, 5 legendary fish, 5 Extended Family quest variants and 10 Crab Pot catches. Before casting, match location, season, time and weather; Magic Bait overrides those availability conditions but not location or required Fishing level.

Do this first

  1. 01
Find the missing name in the 71-row reference and identify its catch category.
  2. 02
Match the exact water body before checking season, clock and weather.
  3. 03
Use the television forecast to reserve rain-only fish days.
  4. 04
Raise Fishing level, eat a fishing buff and equip useful tackle for high-difficulty catches.
  5. 05
Keep collection fish, quest variants and Crab Pot catches as separate completion checks.

Every fish location and condition

Checked against the maintained Fish table on September 14, 2026. These 71 rows are a catch reference, not a claim that the Fish Collection contains 71 unique entries: Extended Family variants are quest-only and Crab Pot catches follow trap rules.

Read conditions in the correct order

Location is the first hard gate: ocean, river, lake, forest pond, mine floor and Ginger Island water are not interchangeable. After reaching the right water, check season, then time, then weather.

Magic Bait removes season, time and weather restrictions for ordinary rod catches. It does not teleport a fish to the wrong water, remove a Fishing-level requirement or turn a Crab Pot catch into a rod catch.

  • Wrong map: change location.
  • Right map but wrong clock or season: return in the valid window or use Magic Bait.
  • Rain-only fish: natural rain or a supported Rain Totem day is still required without Magic Bait.

Build the Community Center fish route first

Bundle progress is easier when you reserve one eligible fish as soon as it appears. Rain-only fish such as Catfish, Shad, Eel and Walleye deserve forecast-based days because weather can close their normal window for an entire season.

Use the live bundle icon because remixed bundles can differ. The table marks availability, while the current save decides whether that fish is still needed.

  • Spring rain: prioritize Catfish and Shad; add Eel after 4pm.
  • Summer ocean: check Pufferfish at midday and Octopus before 1pm.
  • Fall rain: Walleye after noon and Eel after 4pm can share one trip plan.

Treat legendary fish as one planned attempt

The five legendary fish have fixed locations and some require a minimum Fishing level. Food buffs can raise effective Fishing level, but the cast must still land in the documented area.

Bring a high-quality rod, bait where supported, suitable tackle and spare food. The orange crown in the minigame identifies a legendary hook; each original legendary fish can normally be caught only once per save.

  • Crimsonfish: Summer, east pier, Fishing level 5.
  • Angler: Fall, north of JojaMart, Fishing level 3.
  • Legend: Spring rain, Mountain Lake near the log, Fishing level 10.
  • Glacierfish: Winter, south end of Arrowhead Island, Fishing level 6.
  • Mutant Carp: Sewers, any season.

Do not mix quest variants with the permanent collection

The Extended Family quest temporarily replaces the five legendary targets with Son of Crimsonfish, Ms. Angler, Legend II, Glacierfish Jr. and Radioactive Carp. They use the corresponding legendary locations but can appear in any season while the quest is active.

Crab Pot catches are another separate system. Place baited pots in ocean or freshwater, then use the location-specific chance row; the Mariner profession removes trash and changes the catch distribution.
