Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave — Blaze Arts and Burst Gauge

Understand the confirmed HP cost, halfway bonus and full-gauge Burst penalty before using a hero's signature move.

Direct answer

A Blaze Art costs the hero HP and fills the Blaze Gauge. Nintendo says the halfway mark grants a power boost, while filling the gauge completely triggers Burst: the bonus ends and that hero's maximum HP is cut in half. Decide whether the immediate attack is worth that survival cost before using another Art.

This guide describes published rules, not a fabricated complete route or optimized build. Check the released game for changing values and exact availability.

What to do

  1. 01
Inspect the acting hero's current HP and the target or support effect of the available Blaze Art.
  2. 02
Check how close the Blaze Gauge is to its halfway and full thresholds.
  3. 03
If the next use could cause Burst, plan who can protect or heal the hero afterward; do not assume the temporary halfway bonus will remain.
  4. 04
Account for enemy positioning, weapon reach and matchups before committing the HP cost.

The two separate costs

Nintendo describes an immediate HP payment when a hero uses a Blaze Art, plus the longer gauge risk that accumulates over uses. At half gauge, a helpful bonus appears. At full gauge, Burst ends that bonus and halves maximum HP. Current HP and maximum HP are different resources, so the penalty changes how safely the hero can remain on the map.

The source does not give a universal HP cost or gauge increase for every character. Read the live ability panel for the particular hero rather than using a generic number.

Choose a turn deliberately

Before triggering a signature move, check whether it removes an immediate threat, supports several allies or merely speeds up a safe fight. Compare that benefit with the hero's remaining HP and the Burst threshold. Position other units to cover exposed tiles if the hero becomes vulnerable.

The developer says Arts vary by character: some affect an area and others help nearby allies. Enemies can also use powerful abilities, so pushing a unit forward only because an Art is available can be unsafe.

  • Current HP: the immediate ability price.
  • Half gauge: temporary helpful bonus.
  • Full gauge: Burst ends the bonus and halves maximum HP.
  • Positioning: inspect attack reach and exposed tiles before committing.

What is still unknown

The launch article supplies the rule boundary, not a damage calculator. It does not prove the best Art for each hero, exact healing interactions with reduced maximum HP, or a universal rotation. Use in-game descriptions and repeatable battle evidence for those questions.
