Direct answer
Enter after selling excess catches and testing one damage tool. Assign control, damage and revive roles, learn one dangerous move per attempt, and lower difficulty if health or damage—not execution—is blocking progress.
Official facts come from Dazed Games, the Steam store and developer patch notes. Exact catch rates, spawn tables, prices and damage values are omitted when the current official material does not publish them.
Quick route
- 01Spend or bank value before triggering the encounter.
- 02Assign control, damage and revive responsibilities.
- 03Use the first attempt to identify the move causing the wipe.
- 04Change one variable, then test the same phase again.
Use difficulty as a precise tool
Patch 1.0.9 added Easy, Default and Hard. The official note says Easy gives creatures 25 percent less health and makes them deal 50 percent less damage; Hard gives creatures 25 percent more health and damage.
Change difficulty when the problem is numerical pressure. If the group is missing revives, losing the target or firing into bad angles, more health margin will help but will not fix the failed role assignment.
Build a boss role plan
One player should keep the creature readable, one should deliver reliable damage, and another should protect the revive path or handle adds. In a smaller group, combine roles deliberately instead of letting everyone chase the same shot.
The physics are part of the fight. Preserve space around cliffs, water and moving bodies; a powerful weapon is not useful when recoil or collision removes the player from the safe angle.
Known balance changes
Patch 1.0.4 nerfed the Pufferfish and Whale and made the path to the final island easier. Patch 1.0.10 later applied a slight Anglerfish nerf. These notes identify affected encounters but do not publish complete move lists, health totals or drop tables.
Use current-patch observation for exact timing. A launch-day clip can still explain positioning, but it should not be treated as a permanent damage benchmark.
Diagnose the failed attempt
Name the exact failure: an unread move, lost player, empty ammunition, unsafe revive or insufficient damage. Change the smallest relevant decision and keep the rest stable.
If the team reaches a later phase consistently, stop redesigning the opening. Preserve the working first half and spend the next attempt learning only the new threat.
Official release trailer
The trailer confirms the co-op tone, physics-driven catches, weapons, boss encounters and revives. Treat footage as visual context; the current patch notes override early-build balance or interface details.
