Star Wars Zero Company Squad Builds

The best squad is mission-specific. Combine access, control, finishing power and recovery, then test whether Operator bonds and loadouts improve the objective rather than one isolated number.

The direct squad-build answer

Choose the mission win condition first. Add an access role, a threat-control role, a finisher and a recovery answer. If one Operator covers two jobs, use the open slot for the map or objective—not for duplicate damage.

This launch archive separates confirmed official facts from editorial tactical advice. Unverified ability values, mission rewards, exact enemy statistics and definitive tier lists are not invented.

Four layers of a complete squad

Layer 1ObjectiveWhat actually ends the mission?
Layer 2CoverageWhich four jobs must be present?
Layer 3SynergyWhich pair improves the same plan?
Layer 4RecoveryWhat survives a failed opening?

EA confirms varied Specializations, weapon classes, tactical abilities and bonds. Use the released mission and difficulty as the deciding context instead of copying one context-free tier list.

Three explainable starting templates

Stable beginner squad
Soldier or Assault foundation · Control · Finish · Medic or another recovery answer. Learn AP, cover and objective timing before trading safety for damage.
Ranged control squad
Scout or access tool · Sharpshooter or ranged finisher · Control · Recovery. Create a clear line, prevent a rush and keep a second position.
Close-range advance squad
Access · Assault or Gunslinger pressure · Heavy control · Recovery. Move behind controlled space instead of sending one Operator forward alone.

These are editorial role templates built from EA's confirmed Specializations and combat rules, not official preset names.

Build pairs, not four isolated characters

Operator bonds unlock combat synergies according to EA. Record which pair creates a repeatable sequence: one creates the opening, the other converts it. A bond that looks attractive but duplicates an already-covered job may still weaken mission coverage.

Use a three-mission validation

  1. 01
    Track objective turns

How many turns produce real progress rather than cleanup?

  2. 02
    Track exposed Operators

Which action repeatedly leaves the squad unable to answer?

  3. 03
    Change one slot

Replace the missing job, then repeat a comparable mission.

Squad resourceDo not evaluate four builds in isolation

Advantage is shared across the squad. A composition that generates openings but spends the common reserve inefficiently can still fail its main plan.

Diagnose the failure before replacing an Operator

Cannot reach the objective
Add access or route control; do not solve this by stacking more damage.
Good opening, bad enemy turn
Reserve AP, full cover, Overwatch or a recovery action before confirming the final attack.
One Operator is always exposed
The pair lacks a protected handoff. Change position order or the supporting role.
No answer after a miss
The squad has no recovery layer. Preserve a utility action, Advantage or Rally path.

Squad-build FAQ

What is the safest first squad?

Use the stable beginner template: a Soldier or Assault foundation, one control role, one finisher and a Medic or other reliable recovery answer.

Do Operator bonds matter?

Yes. EA says bonds unlock new combat synergies, so pair performance belongs in build testing.

Should every squad include a Jedi?

Not automatically. A Jedi Padawan is a confirmed archetype, but mission coverage and the current mission determine fit.
