Do this first
- 01Choose a small group of villagers whose routes already overlap yours.
- 02Talk when you meet them instead of crossing the map for everyone.
- 03Use reactions, dialogue and the Gift Log to record known preferences.
- 04Check birthdays before using a scarce known-good gift.
- 05Stop gifting when the Social tab shows the weekly boxes filled.
Build a route, not a daily roll call
Villagers follow schedules that can change with season, weather and events. Start with people near your normal farm, shop, fishing or mine route instead of trying to locate the entire town every day.
Conversation raises friendship and teaches the map at the same time. A sustainable route repeated over weeks is more useful than one exhausting day of perfect coverage.
Learn tastes from the game
Villagers have individual likes and dislikes. The Gift Log records preferences learned through gifts, Secret Notes and dialogue, so use it instead of assuming a broad category is safe for everyone.
A normal-quality loved gift is more effective than a higher-quality merely liked gift under the maintained friendship rules. Save rare materials when an easier known-good option already supports the relationship.

Respect the gift limits and calendar
You can normally give one gift per villager per day and two per week. A birthday gift can still be given after the two regular weekly gifts, and birthdays multiply the effect of the gift.
Check the Social tab boxes and calendar before making a special trip. This prevents carrying gifts that cannot be accepted and keeps high-value known-good items for the strongest timing.
Use reactions as evidence
A positive or negative response is information. Update the Gift Log, keep confirmed options, and stop testing scarce items when a repeatable liked choice is already available.
Heart events, mail and room access appear as relationships deepen, but exact schedules and triggers depend on the villager and current state. Follow the live Social tab and event conditions rather than forcing one universal romance route.
