Stardew Valley Royal Jelly, Honey and Bee House Guide

Build Bee Houses, control flower honey, decide when Mead loses value, and understand why Royal Jelly only appears when the Honey Extend mod is installed.

Direct answer: Unmodded Stardew Valley has Honey and Mead, but no item called Royal Jelly. Craft a Bee House at Farming level 3 with 40 Wood, 8 Coal, 1 Iron Bar and 1 Maple Syrup; place it outdoors and wait four nights. For Royal Jelly, you need the third-party Honey Extend mod and its listed dependencies, then process supported Honey in that mod's Heavy Bee House according to the installed variant.

Do this first

  1. 01
Confirm whether the save is unmodded before searching for Royal Jelly.
  2. 02
Reach Farming level 3 and craft a Bee House with 40 Wood, 8 Coal, 1 Iron Bar and 1 Maple Syrup.
  3. 03
Place it outdoors; valley Bee Houses do not produce in Winter or inside the Greenhouse.
  4. 04
Keep a fully grown flower within five tiles and leave it unharvested until collecting the honey.
  5. 05
Only install Honey Extend for Royal Jelly after checking its current SMAPI and dependency requirements.

Every vanilla honey result

A flower is not consumed by production, and one flower can serve multiple Bee Houses. The honey type is decided when you collect it, so harvesting the flower first can turn a ready product back into Wild Honey.

07

Fairy Rose Honey

Fall · highest vanilla base value

A blooming Fairy Rose within range controls the honey at harvest; Ginger Island can support flower honey year-round.

Base value680g; do not turn it into 300g base Mead unless aging or another goal justifies the loss.

Royal Jelly is a mod item, not a hidden vanilla drop

The maintained vanilla Bee House, Honey, Mead and cooking records contain no Royal Jelly item or vanilla acquisition route. If a guide says to obtain Royal Jelly, it is describing a modded save or another game.

Honey Extend is a third-party Nexus mod that adds new honey processing and a Heavy Bee House. Its page lists SMAPI, Content Patcher, SpaceCore and Extra Machine Configs as requirements. Do not expect the item to appear merely because Stardew Valley itself is on version 1.6.

Get Royal Jelly only after identifying the Honey Extend variant

The Honey Extend patch documentation says supported ordinary Honey can be processed into Royal Jelly in the Heavy Bee House. Its compatibility patch specifically excludes Wild Honey from that conversion to avoid problems, while the exact processing time and value depend on the selected patch variant.

Install the base mod and its dependencies from their current author pages, then read the recipe shown by the installed machine data. Mod recipes can change independently of Stardew Valley, so this page labels them separately instead of presenting a fixed vanilla formula.

  • Vanilla save: Royal Jelly cannot be obtained.
  • Honey Extend save: use the mod's Heavy Bee House with a supported Honey input.
  • Compatibility patch: ordinary named Honey is supported; Wild Honey is excluded by the patch description.

Control the flower at collection time

A fully grown, unharvested flower within five tiles can flavor honey. Crocus, Sweet Pea, Dandelion and Daffodil do not count for this mechanic. If several valid flowers are in range, the closest one takes priority, with a deterministic tie order.

Do not pick the controlling flower before collecting ready honey. The game decides the honey type when harvested, not when production finishes. Garden Pot flowers can affect Bee Houses in supported outdoor farm areas in current versions.

Do not automatically keg every flower honey

A Keg turns any Honey into Mead in 10 hours. The base Mead value is 300g and does not preserve the flower's value, so Poppy and Fairy Rose Honey lose base value when kegged; Wild, Tulip, Blue Jazz, Sunflower and Summer Spangle Honey gain varying amounts before professions.

Mead can be aged in Casks and the Artisan profession changes sale values. Compare the actual honey in hand with the intended Mead quality instead of using one processing rule for every flower.
