Stardew Valley Lost Item Quests: Robin's Axe, Mayor's Shorts & More

   For Robin's axe, enter Cindersap Forest and search beside the Sewer Pipe in the south.

   For Lewis's shorts, reach two hearts with Marnie, enter her bedroom and pick them up.

Four early search quests at a glance

These are fixed story quests rather than two-day Help Wanted requests. The trigger, map landmark and completion target below are the parts worth checking before crossing the valley.

Robin's Lost Axe: use the Sewer Pipe as the landmark

Robin's letter arrives on Spring 11. Walk south from the farm into Cindersap Forest, continue past Marnie's Ranch and head toward the Sewer Pipe in the southern part of the forest. The Lost Axe lies beside that pipe; it is not inside Robin's Carpenter's Shop or the Mines.

Pick up the axe so it enters your inventory, then speak to Robin while carrying it. The quest closes when you hand it to her and awards 250g plus one friendship heart.

• Trigger: read Robin's Spring 11 letter.
• Pickup: beside the Sewer Pipe in southern Cindersap Forest.
• Turn-in: Robin, with the axe in inventory.

Mayor's Shorts: unlock Marnie's bedroom first

Lewis's letter arrives on Summer 3, but the Lucky Purple Shorts are inside Marnie's bedroom at Marnie's Ranch. Villager bedrooms normally unlock at two friendship hearts, so the clean route is to talk to Marnie and give confirmed liked or loved gifts until her Social-tab meter reaches two hearts.

Once the bedroom door is open, pick up the shorts and hand them directly to Lewis for 750g and one friendship heart. Festival pranks and clothing secrets are optional easter eggs, not required steps, so this guide keeps the completion route separate.

• Blocked at the bedroom door: check that Marnie has two hearts.
• Pickup: the purple shorts on Marnie's bedroom floor.
• Turn-in: Lewis, with the shorts in inventory.

Blackberry Basket: take the road west of the Bus Stop

Linus sends the Blackberry Basket letter on Fall 8. From the Farm, enter the Bus Stop and follow the paved road west into the lower Backwoods instead of walking south into Pelican Town.

The basket is near the tunnel entrance at the west end of that road. Pick it up and return it to Linus for one friendship heart; there is no gold reward listed for this story quest.

A Winter Mystery: follow footprints to the playground bush

During Winter, enter the Bus Stop from the Farm between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to trigger the shadow-figure scene. Follow the footprints through town toward the Community Center area.

Interact with the bush to the right of the playground. The shadow figure appears and gives you the Magnifying Glass, which allows Secret Notes to begin appearing from supported activities.

If the item is missing, check the journal and lost & found

Story quests received by mail can be completed at any time after they arrive; unlike Help Wanted jobs, they have no expiration date. Waiting for Marnie's room access does not fail Mayor's Shorts.

If the axe, shorts or basket was picked up and later lost, inspect the lost & found box in Mayor Lewis's house. Quest items cannot be sold and the maintained quest record identifies this box as their recovery point.

• No timer: keep the quest active and return later.
• No item at the landmark: confirm it was not already picked up or recovered.
• Lost after pickup: use the lost & found box in Mayor Lewis's house.
