Weapon Tier List

A single S-to-D list mixes four different questions and produces a confident-looking non-answer. The Atlas ranks only after the goal, weights and version are visible.

There is no context-free best weapon

Monster Hunter Wilds has fourteen weapon types, and their value changes with player skill, monster behavior, team composition and the test being measured. A weapon that is clear and forgiving for a first clear may not lead a controlled speedrun. A weapon with a high theoretical ceiling may lose practical output when the target moves unpredictably.

Current answer: choose by rhythm for your first weapon. Use a tier list only after you know whether the question is beginner fit, solo consistency, multiplayer value or expert ceiling.

Four separate scorecards

How a defensible ranking is built

  1. 01
    Freeze the version

Record the game version and any update that changes moves, equipment or encounter rules.

  2. 02
    Publish the weights

Score every weapon against the same visible criteria for that board.

  3. 03
    Use matched hunts

Compare the same quests and conditions; do not mix training-room peaks with normal field clears.

  4. 04
    Show uncertainty

Separate measured results from expert judgment and document weak sample sizes.

Each weapon should also keep an explicit matchup note. A broad average can hide a weapon that excels at one body plan and struggles to reach another target’s valuable parts.

Why the final letters are withheld

The research material identifies community rankings as useful opinion samples, not first-party data. A final Ver. 1.041 letter board needs a complete score sheet, matched tests and a dated review. Publishing letters before that work would repeat the exact flaw this page is designed to fix.
